ECM-A630
VOLVO
ECM-A630 - Brake control module (BCM). Faulty signal
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module receives the data it needs for traction control from the brake control module (BCM) over CAN. If that signal is missing or faulty, the code is set and anti-spin stops working. The fault may therefore lie in the brake control module or in its communication with the engine control module.
Possible causes
- A fault in the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM) first, then in the central electronic module (CEM)
- 2Remedy the faults in the brake control module and the CAN-related codes in the CEM first; clear this code only after that
- 3Check the connectors and CAN wiring between the brake control module and the engine control module for open circuits and chafing
- 4The brake control module belongs to the braking system, so do not work on it yourself; if the fault remains, have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice1
- Anti-spin does not work
