What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module records internally whether the car has been in a crash. The code is set when the CEM reports internally that a collision has taken place, and when the engine control module detects a fault in the airbag signal. Engine start is then not permitted, and the code must be cleared like a normal fault code.
Possible causes
- The airbag has deployed
- A fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
- A fault in the supplemental restraint system (SRS)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and then in the supplemental restraint system (SRS)
- 2The code can be cleared only once the root fault has been remedied and its code erased
- 3The airbag and the restraint system are safety-critical; do not work on them yourself and have a workshop check them
Symptoms you may notice5
- The starter motor turns but the engine does not start
- General warning lamp on
- Message in the display
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
- Text window with a warning symbol and text message
What the fault can affect1
- Engine start is not permitted
