What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the secondary battery relay, which connects the secondary battery during an engine start after auto-stop. The code is set when the signal wire between the engine control module and the relay has an open circuit, and automatic start and stop is then switched off.
Possible causes
- Loose or oxidised connector
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged secondary battery relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact and that the connector at the relay is fully seated
- 2With a multimeter, check that the signal wire between the engine control module and the relay is not broken
- 3If the wire is sound, the relay is probably damaged and should be replaced by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice2
- Automatic start/stop of the engine does not work while driving
- Automatic start/stop of the engine does not work at idle
What the fault can affect1
- The automatic engine start/stop function is switched off
