What does this fault code mean?
The code can be set when the output stage of the engine control module, which drives the secondary battery relay, becomes too hot. The cause may be an overload in the components that the relay controls, or loose connector contacts. While the code is active, automatic start and stop of the engine is switched off.
Possible causes
- Loose connector contact or oxidation
- Short circuit in the connections
- Overload in the connected components
- Damaged secondary battery relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact and that the connectors at the relay are fully seated and free from oxidation
- 2With a multimeter, check whether there is a short circuit between the connections to the relay
- 3If no fault is found in the connectors and wiring, the fault may be inside the output stage of the engine control module; the module then needs replacing, which a workshop does

- Automatic start/stop of the engine does not work while driving
- Automatic start/stop of the engine does not work at idle
