What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the coolant pump through a relay, which protects the pump from excessive current. The pump moves coolant from the engine to the climate unit while automatic start/stop is active. The code is set when the connection between the module and the coolant pump relay is short-circuited to ground.
Possible causes
- Loose connection or oxidation in the connector
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal ground wire
- Damaged coolant pump relay
- Damaged pump
- Short circuit or open circuit in the wiring to the pump
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact and that the connectors at the coolant pump relay are fully seated and free from oxidation
- 2With a multimeter, check that the signal wire to the relay has no contact with ground (the body), with the connectors disconnected
- 3Also check that the electric water pump and its wiring are intact, since a pump that does not work can stop the fuel heater working
- 4If the connectors and wiring are sound, the relay or the pump is probably damaged; have a workshop replace the faulty part

- Uneven temperature in the cabin
- HYBRID drive mode is used all the time or too often, with the combustion engine running
- The parking heater does not work
- Text window with a warning symbol and text message

- The coolant pump is switched off
- The coolant valves are kept open
- In cold outdoor weather the coolant pump keeps running
