What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the high-pressure fuel system against the expected pressure drop during engine braking. The pressure falls less than expected, because the pressure control valve on the fuel rail is not bringing the pressure down as it should.
Possible causes
- The fuel pressure control valve is damaged or stuck closed
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault code, erase it and road test the car with engine braking to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data and check whether it drops when the engine brakes
- 3Check that the connector to the pressure control valve is firmly seated and not corroded
- 4Have a workshop check the fuel system with diagnostic equipment and replace the valve if it is damaged or stuck
Symptoms you may notice2
- Unusual noises while driving
- The fault can show up at any time or only at some times
