3 modelsC30 (2007–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has an internally held serial number that does not match the one held by the brake control module (BCM). The engine does not start while the fault is active.
Possible causes
- The serial number stored in the engine control module does not match the one in the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1There is no separate fault-tracing for this code. Read out the fault codes in the brake control module and the engine control module before erasing anything
- 2Find out whether the brake control module or the engine control module has been replaced recently, since the serial numbers may then disagree
- 3Have a workshop confirm that the serial numbers are programmed correctly for this exact car
- 4Check that the battery has a good charge and that the fuses are intact
- 5The brake control module governs ABS. If the brakes or ABS feel uncertain, do not drive the car; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
