Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module sets itself up from the vehicle configuration held by the CEM, which keeps the number of software versions down. The fault code is set when the engine control module finds that a parameter from the CEM is wrong. A default value is then used for that parameter.
Possible causes
- A control module or function was taken out of or put into the car, and the configuration was not updated correctly
What you can do
- 1There is no specific fault-tracing for this code. Ask whether any control module or function has been removed or added to the car
- 2If something has been added or removed, have a workshop update the vehicle configuration, since that is workshop work
- 3Read out the fault codes in the CEM and the engine control module, and fix any CAN codes first
- 4Erase the fault code once the configuration is correct, then check that it does not return
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the configuration with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- A default value is set for the incorrect parameter
