What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module keeps watch on the system voltage and holds it against a reference value that the CEM sends over CAN. The fault code is set when the module measures a lower voltage than the one sent. The cause is contact resistance or poor contact in the connections.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose contact in the connections
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is charged and that the battery terminals are tight and not corroded
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. Their locations are in the owner's manual
- 3Check the connectors at the engine control module and the CEM for play, oxidation and contact resistance
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the voltage the engine control module shows in live data with the battery voltage at the terminals
- 5Erase the fault code and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the earth and the wiring to the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
