What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module compares the fuel pressure on the high pressure side with the setpoint and with the highest permitted deviation. The fault code is set when the deviation is too large while the pump's control valve cuts the flow below a certain level. The engine may then stall or fail to start at all.
Possible causes
- Low fuel level in the fuel tank
- Leakage in the fuel system
- Blocked fuel filter
- Damaged fuel flow control valve (MPROP)
- The high-pressure pump's control valve is stuck closed
- Damaged injection pump
What you can do
- 1Check and fix any fault codes for the tank pump first
- 2Check the fuel level in the tank and top up if it is low
- 3Check the fuel system for leaks and check whether the fuel filter is blocked
- 4Check the connectors to the fuel flow control valve and the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the high pressure pump control valve and the fuel pressure with diagnostic equipment
- 6Erase the fault code only once the faults are fixed, then road test the car
Symptoms you may notice4
- The engine stalls on starting
- The starter motor does not turn and there is no clicking sound at start attempts
- The engine stalls at idle, at unpredictable times
- The engine stalls while driving, at unpredictable times
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses a calculated value for the fuel pressure
