What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the fuel flow control valve with a pulse-width-modulated signal and monitors the signal level. This is a general electrical fault code, set when the voltage in the valve circuit is too high while the engine is running.
Possible causes
- Air in the fuel lines
- Valve has no supply voltage
- Faulty fuel pressure sensor
- Faulty fuel flow control valve
What you can do
- 1Read the codes, clear them and road test the car to see whether the code returns
- 2Check the fuses and that the supply wire to the valve has no open circuit
- 3Check the connectors at the fuel flow control valve and the pressure sensor for loose, oxidised or damaged parts
- 4Look for chafed wiring between the valve and the control module, and use a multimeter to check that the wire is not shorted to ground
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: read the valve control value in live data with the engine running and check whether it changes smoothly
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the valve and the pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Unusual noise while driving, not clear when it occurs
