What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module has found that the intake camshaft position, bank 1, does not reach the commanded position. It is a mechanical fault where the camshaft actuator may be stuck. The fault is only set when the engine is running and camshaft control is active.

    Possible causes

    • Low engine oil pressure
    • Poor quality engine oil
    • Faulty camshaft control valve
    • Mechanical fault in the VVT unit

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the fuse for the supply voltage to the camshaft control valve
    2. 2Check the engine oil level and that the oil is clean and of the right quality, especially that it is not contaminated
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate camshaft control and check that it responds
    4. 4If the oil is in order but the fault remains: have a workshop clean the control valve, or replace it if that does not help
    5. 5If the fault returns after this: have a workshop check the VVT unit, as it may be damaged internally

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • The car lacks power
