What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has found that the intake camshaft position, bank 1, does not reach the commanded position quickly enough. The code is a component fault with incorrect operation.
Possible causes
- Low engine oil pressure
- Poor quality engine oil
- Faulty camshaft control valve
- Mechanical fault in the VVT unit
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the fuse for the supply voltage to the camshaft control valve
- 3Check the engine oil level on the dipstick and that the oil is clean and of the right quality, especially that it is not contaminated
- 4If the oil is in order: have a workshop measure the oil pressure, since low pressure can cause the fault
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: activate camshaft control and check that the intake camshaft responds
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop check the control valve and the VVT unit
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
