What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the signal wire to the intake camshaft control valve and has found an open circuit in it. The code is a general electrical fault with an open circuit. It is set when the ignition is on and the engine is running.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Faulty intake camshaft control valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the fuse for the circuit to the control valve
- 3Check the connector at the control valve for loose or oxidised parts
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the valve have no open circuit, and look for chafing along the cable
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: activate intake camshaft control and see whether the valve responds
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop check the control valve, as it may be faulty
Symptoms you may notice1
- Check engine lamp lit or behaving abnormally
