What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module compares the intake camshaft position with the crankshaft position and adjusts the adaptation when they do not agree. The code indicates a signal that is too low in bank 2, sensor A, and is set when the adaptation changes too much.
Possible causes
- Incorrectly set camshafts
- Damaged VVT unit
What you can do
- 1Read the code and note whether it is active right now or only stored
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the intake camshaft adaptation in live data with the engine running and note the value
- 3Check the connector at the camshaft sensor for loose or oxidised parts
- 4Check that the engine oil level is correct and that the oil is clean and of the right quality
- 5Have a workshop check the camshaft basic setting
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop clean the control valve, or try a new one, and check the VVT unit
Symptoms you may notice5
- The car lacks power when pulling away from standstill
- Engine is hard to start
- Uneven idle
- Engine hesitates or runs jerkily on acceleration
- Check engine lamp lit or behaving abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a fixed value for the camshaft adaptation
