What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module controls the intake camshaft position on bank 2 and checks that the commanded position is reached. The code is set when control is too slow while the camshaft is being returned, even though its name refers to the camshaft being extended too far. It can be set when the engine is warm, the engine speed is above a certain level and camshaft control is active.
Possible causes
- Poor quality engine oil
- Damaged camshaft control valve
- Damaged VVT unit
What you can do
- 1If there is a stored code for the crankshaft-to-camshaft correlation, diagnose that one first
- 2Check the engine oil level and quality, especially if it may be contaminated
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate intake camshaft control on bank 2 and check that it responds
- 4Have a workshop remove the control valve for cleaning and check the oil passages in the cylinder head
- 5If no fault is found or cleaning does not help: have a workshop try a new control valve
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop check the VVT unit
Symptoms you may notice3
- Uneven idle
- Higher emissions
- Engine stalls while driving
