What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the intake camshaft on bank 2. The engine control module has found that control is too slow when the camshaft is moved out, even though the name refers to the camshaft being returned too far. The code is set when the engine is warm, the engine speed is above a certain level and camshaft control is active.
Possible causes
- Poor quality engine oil
- Low oil pressure
- Damaged camshaft control valve
- Damaged VVT unit
What you can do
- 1If there is a stored code for the crankshaft-to-camshaft correlation, diagnose that one first
- 2Check the engine oil level and quality, and that it is not contaminated
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate intake camshaft control on bank 2 and see whether it responds
- 4Have a workshop measure the oil pressure and remove the control valve for cleaning
- 5If cleaning does not help: have a workshop try a new control valve
- 6If the fault returns: have a workshop check the VVT unit
Symptoms you may notice4
- Uneven idle
- Higher emissions
- Engine stalls while driving
- Check engine lamp lit or behaving abnormally
