What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the exhaust camshaft on bank 2. Although its name says the camshaft is returned too far, it is set when control is too slow while the camshaft is being moved out. It is set when the engine is warm, the engine speed is above a certain level and camshaft control is active. It is a general fault without a more specific description.
Possible causes
- Poor quality engine oil
- Damaged exhaust camshaft control valve
- Damaged VVT unit
What you can do
- 1If there is a stored code for the crankshaft-to-camshaft correlation, diagnose that one first
- 2Check the engine oil quality, especially if it may be contaminated
- 3Have a workshop remove the control valve for cleaning and check the oil passages in the cylinder head
- 4If no fault is found or cleaning does not help: have a workshop try a new control valve
- 5If the fault returns: have a workshop check the VVT unit
Symptoms you may notice3
- Uneven idle
- Higher emissions
- Engine stalls while driving
