What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module uses a bypass valve on the turbo to reduce the noise bursts that occur when the accelerator is released quickly, and it monitors the control signal to the valve. The code is set when the control signal is missing, and it is tested with the ignition on.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Faulty bypass valve
- Faulty turbo control valve for the bypass
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the bypass valve have no open circuit
- 3Check the connector at the bypass valve for loose or corroded parts
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the bypass valve and check that it responds
- 5If the fault returns: have a workshop check or replace the bypass valve

- A whistling sound may be heard
- Unusual noise while driving, not clear when it occurs
