What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns bypass valve A, which acts as the turbo's blow-off valve to reduce noise bursts when the accelerator is released quickly. The engine control module monitors the control signal to the valve, and the code is set when the signal is missing.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Faulty bypass valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the bypass valve have no open circuit
- 3Look for chafed wiring and check the connector at the bypass valve for loose parts
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the bypass valve and check that it responds
- 5If the fault returns: have a workshop check the bypass valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- Unusual noise when the accelerator is released
- Unusual noise while driving, not clear when it occurs
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
