What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module uses the blow-off valve to reduce noise bursts when the accelerator is released quickly, and it monitors the control signal to the valve. The code is set when the control signal is too low, and it is checked with the ignition on. It is a general fault with no more specific description.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Faulty blow-off valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the blow-off valve is not shorted to ground
- 3Check the connector at the blow-off valve for loose or corroded parts
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the blow-off valve and check that it responds
- 5If the fault returns: have a workshop check or replace the blow-off valve

- Unusual noise from the engine bay when the accelerator is released
- A whistling sound may be heard when the valve is closed
