What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns a short to ground in the control circuit for bypass valve A, which acts as the turbo's blow-off valve. The engine control module uses the valve to reduce noise bursts when the accelerator is released quickly, and sets the code when the control signal is too low.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Faulty blow-off valve
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the blow-off valve is not shorted to ground
- 3Check the connector at the blow-off valve for loose or corroded parts
- 4If the fault returns: have a workshop check or replace the blow-off valve
Symptoms you may notice2
- Unusual noise when the accelerator is released
- Unusual noise while driving, not clear when it occurs
