What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module uses the blow-off valve to reduce noise bursts when the accelerator is released quickly, and it monitors the control signal to the valve. It is a general fault with no more specific description, and it is set when the control signal is too high. It is checked with the ignition on.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Faulty blow-off valve
- Faulty turbo control valve for the blow-off
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the blow-off valve is not shorted to supply voltage
- 3Check the connector at the blow-off valve for loose or corroded parts
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the blow-off valve and check that it responds
- 5If the fault returns: have a workshop check or replace the blow-off valve
