What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the heater circuit of the rear lambda sensor on bank 1, sensor 2, and registers when the circuit is shorted to supply voltage. It is a general fault with no more specific description, and it is set when the heater signal rises above a set level while heating is active.
Possible causes
- Wire shorted to supply voltage
- Faulty rear lambda sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the rear lambda sensor for loose or oxidised parts
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the sensor is not shorted to supply voltage
- 4If the above does not solve the fault: have a workshop try a new lambda sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Emissions warning lamp lit
- Check engine lamp lit or behaving abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- Heating of the rear lambda sensor is switched off
- Lambda control is switched off
