What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the turbo assembly and drives turbo control valve A (wastegate) with a pulse-width modulated signal. The code is set when that signal is wrong, here when the control signal to the valve is too high.
Possible causes
- Damaged cables or connectors
- Loose connections
- Open circuit in the PWM signal lead to turbo control valve A (wastegate)
- Damaged turbo control valve
What you can do
- 1Make sure the fuses for the turbo valve are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 2After a test drive, read the fault code with a diagnostic tool and note whether it is active
- 3Check the wiring and connectors to turbo control valve A for damage, looseness and breaks
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal lead to the valve has no open circuit
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check turbo control valve A. If it is damaged, it is replaced
