What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module watches the turbocharger and uses a PWM signal to drive turbo control valve A (wastegate). The code appears when that signal is wrong, here when it is too high.
Possible causes
- The signal lead to turbo control valve A (wastegate) is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Short circuit to supply voltage inside turbo control valve A (wastegate)
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- The turbo control valve is missing its voltage supply
- Damaged turbo control valve
What you can do
- 1Take the car on a test drive above a certain engine speed, then read the fault code with a diagnostic tool
- 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 3Check the connector at turbo control valve A (wastegate) for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Check that the wiring to the turbo control valve is not pinched or chafed, as it could then touch a live supply
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check turbo control valve A (wastegate) and its voltage supply
