What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module keeps watch on the temperature of the PWM signal outputs that drive the turbo control motor, the VNT regulator and turbo control valve B (bypass). The code is set when a temperature goes above a set level, and
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or an open circuit at the connections
- Damaged cables or connectors
- Loose connections
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool after starting the engine and note whether it is active
- 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 3Check the connectors at the turbo control motor, the VNT regulator and turbo control valve B for contact resistance, oxidation and open circuit
- 4Look at the wiring to the three controls for chafing and damaged insulation
- 5Clear the fault code, read it out again with the engine running, and see whether it returns
- 6Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the controls if the fault comes back
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor performance and lack of power while driving
- Message text and warning symbol in the display
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
