What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the turbocharger. The code is set when any of the PWM signals to the turbo control motor, the VNT regulator or turbo control valve B is wrong, or when the signal to the compressor clutch is short-circuited to ground.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal lead
- The signal lead is short-circuited to ground
- Short circuit to ground in the turbo control motor
- Short circuit to ground in the turbo control valve (VNT regulator)
- The signal lead to turbo control valve B (bypass) is short-circuited to ground
- The signal lead to the compressor clutch is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the engine running and see whether it is active
- 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 3Go through the wiring to the turbo control motor, VNT regulator, turbo control valve B and the compressor clutch for chafing and pinch damage, especially where it may touch the body
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal leads are not short-circuited to ground and have no open circuit
- 5Check the connectors to the four controls for looseness and corrosion
- 6Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the turbo control motor, VNT regulator and turbo control valve B if the fault remains after the wiring check

- Message text and warning symbol in the display
- Hesitation or surging during acceleration and when slowing down
- Jerky running while driving
