What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module checks the preheating circuit of the front oxygen sensor on bank 2, the back cylinder row beside the cabin, namely cylinders 2, 4, 6 and 8. The code is set when the circuit is short-circuited to supply voltage, and the check can be made with the ignition on.

    Possible causes

    • Power lead short-circuited to supply voltage
    • Damaged front heated oxygen sensor

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the fault status with a diagnostic tool when the diagnostic is complete. A status of Fault found shows the fault is present now
    2. 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their locations are on the fuse chart or in the instruction manual
    3. 3Look at the lead to the front oxygen sensor on bank 2 for chafing or pinch damage where it could touch a live wire
    4. 4With a multimeter, check that the power lead is not short-circuited to supply voltage
    5. 5Replace the front oxygen sensor if the fault remains and the wiring is intact

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • The malfunction indicator lamp lights up

    What the fault can affect2

    • Lambda control is switched off
    • Preheating of the front oxygen sensor is switched off

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
