What does this fault code mean?
The oxygen sensor gives the engine control module information about the fuel and air mixture. The code concerns the signal to the preheating of the oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 1, which is wrong when the fault is set.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals
- Open circuit or short circuit in the wiring
- Damaged oxygen sensor
- Damaged engine control module
What you can do
- 1Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 2Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the ignition in position II and note whether it is active
- 3Check the connector to the oxygen sensor on bank 1 sensor 1 for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4With a multimeter, check that the wiring to the sensor has no open circuit and no short to ground
- 5Replace the oxygen sensor if the wiring is intact but the fault remains
- 6Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the engine control module if the sensor and wiring are intact
Symptoms you may notice2
- The Check engine (malfunction indicator) lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
- No other noticeable symptoms for the driver
