What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module finds that the front oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 1, has not reached normal operating temperature. The code belongs to electrical faults with too high resistance, and the causes are contact resistance in the connectors or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged front heated oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the connector on the front oxygen sensor for bank 1 sensor 1 for contact resistance and oxidation, and correct it if needed
- 2Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the engine running and note whether it is active or only stored
- 3With a multimeter, check that the wiring to the sensor has no open circuit
- 4If correcting the connector does not cure the fault, replace the front oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine (malfunction indicator) lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
