What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the calibration signal from the oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 1, and is set when that signal is too high. The engine control module uses the sensor to judge the fuel and air mixture, and the fault can only be checked when the sensor is calibrated, which a workshop does.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal leads
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the signal lead
- Damaged oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connections and wiring to the oxygen sensor for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 2With a multimeter, check that the signal lead has no open circuit
- 3Check that the oxygen sensor is seated firmly and not damaged
- 4Have a workshop check the oxygen sensor during calibration if the fault remains after the wiring check
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses the last measured value
