What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named as a pulse width fault with a signal that is too high, it concerns resistance in the preheating circuit of the front oxygen sensor being too high.
Possible causes
- Oxidation and contact resistance in the connectors
- The front oxygen sensor is damaged
What you can do
- 1Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is on the fuse chart or in the instruction manual
- 2Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the engine running and note whether it is active
- 3Check the connector to the front oxygen sensor for looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 4With a multimeter, check that the preheating lead has no open circuit
- 5Replace the front oxygen sensor if the fault remains after checking the connector and wiring
- 6Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the relevant signals to the sensor if the fault comes back
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
