What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the engine control module registers that the rear oxygen sensor on bank 1, sensor 2, has not reached normal operating temperature. The fault concerns too high resistance, and the causes are contact resistance in the connectors or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged rear heated oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1Look for contact resistance and oxidation in the connector to the rear oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 2), and correct what you find
- 2Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool and note whether it is active
- 3Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is in the instruction manual
- 4With a multimeter, check that the wiring to the sensor has no open circuit
- 5If the connector gave no result, a new oxygen sensor is the next step
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine (malfunction indicator) lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
