What does this fault code mean?
When the ignition is switched on before starting, the engine control module checks that the boost, air and ambient pressure sensors show about the same value. The code is set when the boost pressure sensor differs from the other two, and here its signal is too high.
Possible causes
- The boost pressure sensor (MAP) is damaged
What you can do
- 1With a diagnostic tool, compare boost and air pressure in live data before starting. If boost reads clearly above the other two, suspect the sensor
- 2If the air pressure sensor reading does not match the ambient pressure, the sensor may be damaged and need replacing
- 3Check the connector and wiring to the boost pressure sensor for looseness and oxidation
- 4Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool and note whether it is active
- 5Have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor if the fault remains after checking the connector and wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses a calculated value instead
