What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named exhaust pressure, it concerns the intake pressure. The engine control module follows the pressure in the intake manifold with the pressure sensor (MAP) and compares it with a calculation model. The code is set when the difference between the actual intake pressure and the model is too large.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- The pressure sensor (MAP) is faulty
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the ignition in position II and note whether it is active
- 2Check the MAP sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the intake pressure in live data with the ignition on and the engine off. The value should be close to ambient pressure
- 4Have a workshop check the pressure sensor if the fault remains after the connector has been checked
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine (malfunction indicator) lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control is lost
