What does this fault code mean?
Although the code names low voltage, it concerns the outside temperature appearing too low compared with the other sensors. At start, the engine control module saves the readings from the outside, intake and engine temperature sensors and compares them.
Possible causes
- Damaged outside temperature sensor
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is on the fuse chart or in the instruction manual
- 2Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the engine running and note whether it is active
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the outside temperature in live data and compare it with the intake temperature. They should be roughly in line with each other
- 4Check the connector to the outside temperature sensor for oxidation and contact resistance
- 5With a multimeter, check that the sensor wiring has no open circuit and no short to ground
- 6Have a workshop check the sensor if the fault remains after checking the connector and wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- The outside temperature is displayed as too low
What the fault can affect1
- The outside temperature is calculated from a model
