What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the outside temperature sensor shows a temperature at start that is too high compared with the other sensors. The engine control module then stores the readings from the outside, intake and engine temperature sensors at that moment. Although the code names high voltage, it concerns the mismatch between the sensors.
Possible causes
- Damaged outside temperature sensor
- Oxidised connections with contact resistance
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the engine running and note whether it is active
- 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is in the instruction manual
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the outside temperature in live data with the intake temperature after starting. The readings should be roughly the same
- 4Check the connector to the outside temperature sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5Have a workshop check the sensor if the fault remains after checking the connector and wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- The outside temperature is displayed as too high
What the fault can affect1
- The outside temperature is calculated from a model
