What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors outside temperature sensor A and, after a long stop, checks its reading against other temperatures in the car. The code is set when the signal is too high and the outside temperature therefore deviates too much from the other values.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connection
- Outside temperature sensor A is damaged
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the outside temperature in live data and compare it with the other temperatures in the car. The values should roughly agree
- 2Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool and note whether it is active or only stored
- 3Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 4With the ignition off, check the sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5Have a workshop check the sensor if the fault remains after the connector has been checked
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- A calculated value is used for the outside temperature
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
