What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module reads the signal from the outside sensor, and the code is set when that signal stays too low. The sensor measures the outside air temperature from the left outer mirror.
Possible causes
- The signal lead is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Read the diagnostic status and fault status for the code with a diagnostic tool. If it is still active, the fault remains
- 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 3Look at the sensor connector in the left outer mirror for loose connections and damage
- 4Follow the signal lead from the sensor and look for any point where it has chafed or been pinched so that it touches the body
- 5With a multimeter, check that the signal lead is not short-circuited to ground. Replace the sensor if the wiring is intact but the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice4
- Air conditioning does not work
- Heater temperature control does not work
- The outside temperature gauge shows the wrong value or does not work
- The malfunction indicator lamp lights up
What the fault can affect2
- A calculated value is used
- The intake air temperature sensor is used instead if it works, otherwise a fixed constant value
