What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the outside temperature signal being too high. The causes are a short to supply voltage, an open circuit in the signal lead, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- The signal lead is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal lead
- The outside temperature sensor is damaged
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, read the fault code with a diagnostic tool and check whether it is still active
- 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 3With the ignition off, check the sensor connector and connections for loose contacts and damage
- 4Look for chafing and pinch damage on the signal lead, especially where it may have touched supply voltage
- 5With a multimeter, check that the signal lead is not short-circuited to supply voltage and has no open circuit. Replace the sensor if the lead is intact but the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice3
- Air conditioning does not work
- Heater temperature control does not work
- The malfunction indicator lamp lights up
What the fault can affect2
- The intake air temperature sensor is used instead, if it works
- The engine control module uses a calculated value
