What does this fault code mean?
The code is intermittent, meaning the fault comes and goes rather than being present all the time. The engine control module measures outside temperature with the sensor in the left mirror, and the code is set when the signal is irregular or implausible.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- The atmospheric pressure sensor is damaged
- The outside temperature sensor is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read the fault status with a diagnostic tool. Fault found means the fault is present now, while No fault found means the fault is intermittent and not active at the moment
- 2Make sure the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the instruction manual
- 3With the ignition off, check the sensor connector in the left mirror for contact resistance and oxidation. Loose contacts often give irregular readings
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the outside temperature in live data for a while. A value that jumps without reason points to a poor contact or a moving wire
- 5Have a workshop check the sensor if the fault comes back
Symptoms you may notice1
- The outside temperature gauge shows the wrong value or does not work
What the fault can affect1
- A calculated value is used
