What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module sets the intake camshaft's position through its reset valve and checks the control signal. The code is set when that signal is too low, which can come from a short to ground in the signal or supply lead.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- The signal lead is short-circuited to ground
- The power supply lead is short-circuited to ground
- The camshaft reset valve is damaged
What you can do
- 1Start with the fuse for the circuit. If it is blown, look for a short to ground in the wiring
- 2Read the fault code with a diagnostic tool with the ignition on and see whether it is active
- 3Check the connector to the camshaft reset valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal and supply leads to the valve are not short-circuited to ground
- 5Have a workshop check the reset valve if the fault remains after the wiring check
