What does this fault code mean?
The boost pressure sensor (TMAP) measures both boost pressure and air temperature at the charge air cooler. The engine control module (ECM) tracks the temperature signal at high and at low boost and compares it with a model. The fault code is set when the temperature signal does not match the model.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connection in the connector to the boost pressure sensor
- Internal short circuit in the boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
What you can do
- 1Check the connector to the boost pressure sensor for oxidation, loose contacts and contact resistance
- 2Look for damage or chafing on the wire at the sensor and check that the connector is secure
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: with the engine off, compare the boost pressure sensor temperature in live data with the ambient temperature. A clear difference suggests the sensor is faulty
- 4If the connector is in good condition but the fault remains, have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor and replace it if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses a calculated value instead of the measured temperature
