What does this fault code mean?
The fault code concerns how quickly the temperature signal from the boost pressure sensor changes. When the rate of change falls below a limit, the signal is considered unstable and the fault code is set. The check runs with the engine running.
Possible causes
- Loose connection, contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
What you can do
- 1Check the boost pressure sensor connector for looseness, since play gives an uneven signal
- 2Look for chafed or pinched wiring running to the sensor
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor temperature in live data while driving and check whether it rises under hard acceleration and falls again when cruising gently
- 4Have a workshop check the boost pressure sensor if the connector and wiring are in order but the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine may hesitate, surge or run jerkily while driving
