What does this fault code mean?
The boost pressure sensor (TMAP) measures boost pressure and temperature at the charge air cooler. The fault code is set when the signal from the sensor is below a limit, which can be caused by a signal wire shorted to ground, poor contact or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connection in the connector
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)
What you can do
- 1Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the boost pressure sensor has no contact with ground (the body), with the ignition on
- 2Check the sensor connector for moisture, corrosion and loose connections
- 3Look for chafing in the sensor wiring, especially where it may have been pinched
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the boost pressure sensor temperature in live data with the engine running and check whether it reads an unreasonably low value
- 5Have a workshop measure the sensor signal and replace the boost pressure sensor if the wiring is intact
Symptoms you may notice1
- The Check engine warning lamp lights up
What the fault can affect1
- The engine control module uses a calculated value instead of the measured temperature
