What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) adjusts the exhaust camshaft position on bank 2 with a changeover valve. The fault code is set when the control signal to the valve is too high. The causes are a signal wire shorted to voltage or a damaged valve.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged exhaust camshaft changeover valve
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code and check whether it is active right now
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the valve has no voltage with the ignition off
- 3Look for chafed or pinched wiring to the bank 2 exhaust valve
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the bank 2 exhaust valve and check that it responds
- 5Have a workshop check the valve if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice4
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
- Uneven idle
- Poor performance
- The engine can stall while driving
What the fault can affect1
- Exhaust camshaft control is switched off
