What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns two values that do not agree on the high-pressure side of the fuel system: the measured fuel pressure and the target pressure the control module requests. It is set when the measured pressure is too low compared with the target.
Possible causes
- Leak in the fuel system
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire or the signal ground wire
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1Make sure there is enough fuel in the tank
- 2Look for leaks on the fuel lines on the way to the injectors
- 3Check the connectors to the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel pump for oxidation and loose contacts
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the fuel pressure in live data when the engine is cold and when it is warm
- 5Have a workshop check the fuel pump and the fuel pressure sensor if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice3
- Check engine lamp (MIL) lights up
- Uneven idle
- The engine may hesitate or surge while driving
