What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) takes its rail pressure reading from the sensor and checks that it stays within limits. The fault code is set when the fuel pressure is too high. It can be caused by a damaged fuel pressure sensor or a damaged fuel pressure control valve.
Possible causes
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pressure control valve
What you can do
- 1Check the connector at the fuel pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Look for damage on the sensor cable and check that it is not pinched
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data with the engine running and compare it with the pressure the control module requests
- 4Have a workshop check the fuel pressure sensor with a gauge, and the fuel pressure control valve
- 5After the repair, read off the fault code and check that it does not come back
Symptoms you may notice2
- A warning symbol and a text message appear in the display
- The car lacks power while driving
What the fault can affect1
- Engine torque may be limited
