What does this fault code mean?
This fault code concerns two values that do not agree on the high-pressure side of the fuel system: the measured fuel pressure and the target value the control module requests. It is set when the measured pressure is too high compared with the target.
Possible causes
- Clogged fuel system
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the signal wire or the signal ground wire
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged fuel pump
What you can do
- 1Check the fuel lines and fuel filter for blockage
- 2Check the connector to the fuel pressure sensor for oxidation and looseness
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the fuel pressure sensor is not shorted to voltage
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel pressure in live data and see whether it rises too high compared with what the control module requests
- 5Have a workshop check the fuel pump and the fuel pressure sensor if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice3
- The Check engine warning lamp lights up
- Uneven idle
- The car may hesitate or surge at times while driving
